SXU Shannon Center's upcoming events
Saint Xavier University's (SXU) Shannon Center's upcoming programs include the following:
8 Week Nutrition Weight Loss Program led by Registered Dietician, Kelly Devine Rickert -- Eight week sessions meets every Tuesday starting Tuesday, January 19 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Shannon Center. Kelly Devine Rickert, registered dietitian, has been teaching this class for several years at the Shannon Center and the average weight loss is 10lbs in the eight week period. This class is open to 30 participants only. This event is open to the community.
Monthly Weigh-In Program led by Registered Dietitian, Kelly Devine Rickert along with a 30 minute nutrition presentation -- Do you need help staying on track? Do you need accountability? Do you want to continue your weight loss? Then this might be a great program for you! The cost is only $12 per month and you only pay for the months you attend. The next weigh-in and talk is held on Tuesday, February 2 at either 12:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. This class is open to the community.
45-minute Indoor Duathlon -- This event takes place on Sunday, February 21. Sign-up for a timeslot between 8 a.m. - noon (first come basis per receiving registration form and payment). The Indoor Duathlon is a 15-minute run or walk on the track, 15-minute ride on a stationary bike (upright or recumbent) followed by a 15-minute run or walk on the track (total time = 45 minutes). This event is open to the community.
Annual SXU Health Fair -- Friday, March 18 from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.. Enjoy free screenings, healthy information, exercise demos, refreshments, vendor samples and more! More information to follow. This event is open to the community.
Six Week 5K and 10K Running Program -- Train for an upcoming race this spring or summer by signing up for our popular 5K and 10K Training Programs. This is a great program for anyone wanting to learn how to run or increase their speed or distance. This group meets every Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The cost is only $20 per person for the entire six week session. Running coaches will help train, pace and motivate runners. This event is open to the community.
Group Exercise Classes
The Shannon Center offers a variety of group exercise classes including Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Cardio Kickboxing, Tabata Training, Boot Camp, Chair Strength Training and Chair Yoga. Classes are free and intended for Shannon Center members. Please view the current group exercise schedule.
Intramurals is intended for all SXU students, faculty and staff! Get your department involved by signing up for one of our many intramural activities. All registrations are done online. Please view the Spring Semester Intramural Schedule.
Members can sign up for personal training at the Shannon Center. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in signing up for personal training sessions. The personal trainers are either SXU students or alumni and all of our trainers are certified.

Save the Date -- Celebrate our Sweet 16 -- the 16th Annual Cougar 5K Run/Walk will be held on SXU's Homecoming Weekend, Saturday, October 8 at 9 a.m. More details to follow. This event is open to the community.
