Communication Sciences & Disorders faculty & students participate in Illinois Speech-Language Hearing Association Convention

Saint Xavier University's (SXU) Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders faculty and graduate students were well represented at the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention held from February 9 to 11.

Faculty Presentations:

  • Carol Szymanski: "Credentials Ready? A guide through the process of obtaining IL State Licensure, ASHA Certification, and ISBE Educator Licensure"
  • Miriam Carroll-Alfano: "Concussion: Prevention, policy, management, and the speech-language pathologist"

Professional and Committee Participation:

  • Carol Szymanski: president-elect of the Illinois Speech-Language Hearing Association – Attended ISHA Board meeting and committee meetings
  • Carol Szymanski: SXU representative to the Illinois Program Directors meeting and member of the Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee
  • Pamela Klick: SXU representative to the Illinois Clinic Directors meeting
  • Carol Szymanski: chair of the Ad-Hoc Licensure Committee facilitating the re-authorization of the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Practice Act
  • Sharon Brown-Sweeney: member of the Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee
  • Miriam Carroll-Alfano: member of the Membership Committee
