Two of Saint Xavier University (SXU) women's basketball team standouts will be front and center on the night Chicagoland nurses are honored at the Chicago White Sox game on Tuesday, May 9 for "Nurse Appreciation Day."

Senior guard Mikayla Leyden and senior forward Meaghan McMahon will be welcomed to the mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the game. These seniors helped SXU's program compile an amazing 122 to 17 record over the last four seasons (.877 win percentage). The SXU's women's basketball team were the NAIA national runner-up with a program-best 34 wins this past season (34 t0 3 overall).

Leyden has been named a NAIA Third Team All-American who was the first player in program history with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, and 200 steals. McMahon has been named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.

Both seniors have just recently graduated from SXU's prestigious School of Nursing, a program that has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report; and serves as a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence, a distinction held by only 17 schools in the nation.

Congratulations to both Leyden and McMahon on this exciting honor!
