Saint Xavier University's (SXU) Department of Mathematics Associate Professor Kristen Schreck, D.A., was recently featured on the Pullman Foundation website following an interview series called "Women in STEM." The interview focused on her dedication to math, physics and engineering, which have led to her success in 3D printing.

Dr. Schreck was also recently recognized as an 'Ultimate 3D Printing Education Pioneer' and was awarded a 3D printer. She incorporates the 3D printer into her lessons to engage her students. Her ultimate goal is to have students use the printer for a service project.

Dr. Schreck was fascinated by Albert Einstein at a young age, which allowed her love for math to thrive. In high school, her parents gave her the resources to research careers, and she found her passion: electrical engineering. In 1987, she graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). Dr. Schreck worked at Sargent & Lundy, LLC in Chicago on nuclear power plant projects until deciding to further her education. She then went on to graduate from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with her master's, and finally a Doctorate in Arts in Mathematics.
