SXU Hosts Annual CSD Professional Development Workshop

Date:12/14/2018

Saint Xavier University's (SXU) Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program will be hosting their yearly professional development workshop for speech language pathologists (SLP) entitled: The Role of the SLP in Evaluation, Care and Treatment of Vocal Athletes. The course will be presented by Wendy LeBorgne, Ph.D., CCC-SLP.

LeBorgne is a highly sought-after voice pathologist, international speaker, author and master-class clinician regarding the fields of vocal wellness and vocal athletes. Her recent TED Talk on Voice Branding™ enlightened audiences on the elements of authentic, engaged communication. Her 22-year career as a voice pathologist and singing voice specialist includes serving as the clinical director of two successful private practice voice centers -- ProVoice Center in Cincinnati, OH and BBIVAR in Bayton, OH -- both evaluating and treating patients with vocal injury. LeBorgne also holds an adjunct professor position at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) as a voice consultant, caring for the voices of the actors and singers at CCM. She also teaches undergraduate vocal pedagogy, a new doctoral level commercial music pedagogy course and a new course on the vocal wellness of vocal athletes.

This event offers 1.2 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) to licensed speech language pathologists. CSD undergraduates and graduate students may also audit the course.

The workshop will be held in McGuire Hall on Friday, January 4, and Saturday, January 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost of attending will be $200 per individual and $100 for SXU alumni.
