Saint Xavier University's (SXU) Police Chief and Executive Director of Public Safety, Jack Touhy, was recently re-elected by fellow police chiefs and safety professionals to the 2018-2019 executive board of the South Suburban Association of Chiefs of Police and will serve as the organization's president.

The South Suburban Association of Chiefs of Police is made up of over 75 south suburban police and safety departments, as well as members of the Chicago Police Department, Cook County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and several federal agencies.

The purpose of this association is to advance the science and art of police administration and crime prevention, to develop and disseminate improved administrative and technical practices and to promote their use in police work, to foster police cooperation and the exchange of information and training in the police profession of qualified persons and to encourage adherence of all police officers to high professional standards of conduct. The organization works collaboratively to offer improved training and state of the art equipment to the south suburban area that individual departments individually could not afford or get access to.

SXU is proud of Chief Touhy and of all its students, faculty and staff who continuously work to make our community and the world a brighter, safer place.
