SXU Hosts 2019 Youth Athletic Summer Camps
Saint Xavier University (SXU) is proud to offer a range of summer camp and course experiences to youth in the community that inspire creativity, expand their knowledge and physical skills, and motivate them to lead in their schools as well as their communities. SXU's summer camps and courses incorporate practical lessons with hands-on learning led by SXU professors and staff. Plus, each camp is held on the University's beautiful campus on the South Side of Chicago, exposing attendees to the college environment and preparing them for the future.
Among the camps and courses offered in 2019 will be four athletic camps, a jazz camp, a student media camp and three dual credit summer courses.
The SXU Boys Basketball Camp is scheduled for Monday through Thursday, June 24-27 and is open to students ages 10 to 16. The camp will be hosted by SXU men's basketball coach Tom O'Malley, along with the SXU men's basketball coaching staff and current players.
The SXU Volleyball Camp will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 9 and 10. The two-day camp is open to boys and girls from fourth to twelfth grade and will be ran by SXU women's volleyball head coach Bob Heersema who will use passing, serving and setting drills to improve campers' skills.
The SXU Softball All-Skills Camp will be on Friday, August 2. This one-day camp is open to students ages 9 to 18 and will be led by SXU softball head coach Erin Mollohan, along with the rest of the SXU coaching staff and current SXU softball players, who will work with students to improve their game.
The fourth and final athletic camp will be the inaugural Youth Lacrosse Summer Camp and will be held Monday through Wednesday, June 24 through 26. The three-day camp will be led by the SXU lacrosse head coach Tom Haggerty and is open to all levels of experience.
