SXU to Host Fourth Annual SXU-Southside Summer Jazz Camp

Date:03/18/2019

Saint Xavier University (SXU) is pleased to announce its Fourth Annual SXU-Southside Summer Jazz Camp returning this summer, running from July 15-19 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. each day. The camp is open to students in sixth grade up to seniors in high school.

The SXU-Southside Summer Jazz Camp provides students with the opportunity to learn from and work with an outstanding group of jazz educators who are dedicated to helping them gain their confidence and improve on their abilities as section players, improvisers and sight-readers.

The SXU-Southside Summer Jazz Camp is open to students of all levels of experience regardless of whether they are new to jazz or looking to expand their horizons. The camp includes daily rehearsals on jazz repertoire, instrumental sectionals, improvisation master-classes, jam sessions, guest concerts and music theory workshops. Students will showcase their talents on the final concert on that Friday evening in McGuire Hall of the Warde Academic Center on Saint Xavier University's Chicago campus.

The SXU-Southside Summer Jazz Camp welcomes students of all instruments, including trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, string bass, guitar, vibraphone and drums.

The cost of attending the camp is $80 per student. Register today for the SXU-Southside Summer Jazz Camp by filling out the online form and the required SXU Summer Camp Health Form. For more information about this summer camp, contact Dr. Shawn Salmon at salmonFREESXU or call 773-298-3420.
