SXU Announces New Transfer Partnerships

Date:12/09/2020

Saint Xavier University (SXU) is pleased to announce transfer partnership agreements with three new institutions: Moraine Valley Community College, Prairie State College (Dual Degree Partnership) and South Suburban College. These institutions join City Colleges of Chicago, which partnered with SXU in February 2020, to offer guaranteed admission to eligible transfer students to SXU, creating a clear path to earning a quality, accessible and affordable bachelor's degree.

These partnerships serve as a means of increasing access to and success in educational programs for all students. Saint Xavier and each of the community colleges are committed to supporting students for a seamless transfer and degree completion. Transfer students as part of the partnerships will be invited to special events and workshops in support of their college transition and academic success and receive early advising.

"The goal of the agreement is to create a seamless transition for all transfer students," said Eileen Luce, director of the Transfer Student Services Center at SXU. "We are thrilled to help put students on a focused path toward successful careers."

To qualify for a transfer partnership agreement, newly accepted community college students must be enrolled full-time, have 12-45 credit hours completed and be in good academic standing at their community college. Students who transfer to SXU will be able to take advantage of many program benefits, including:

  • on-campus access to SXU transfer resources with personalized advising to develop a plan to complete degrees in the shortest amount of time possible;
  • consideration for financial assistance and eligibility for one or more scholarship at SXU, such as the Preferred Partnership Scholarship award or the Vernon O. Crawley scholarship from Moraine Valley;
  • and the opportunity to apply for the Full-Tuition Scholarship

The deadline to review the Full-Tuition Scholarship is March 1 each year for students entering into an SXU academic program in the summer or fall semesters and October 1 for students entering into a program in the spring semester. Students can also pursue other scholarships that vary per institution. In addition, students who earn a 3.75 cumulative GPA at one of the community colleges in which SXU shares a transfer partnership agreement are eligible to apply to SXU's Honors Program. Nursing, education and communication sciences and disorders students may need to transfer prior to degree completion to ensure progression in the major.

"Saint Xavier University's new partnership with these colleges serves our wider communities by offering affordable and seamless pathways to a college degree. Our excellent faculty and student services provide students with the education and opportunities to pursue their career goals," said Angela Durante, Ph.D., interim provost.
