Throughout the month of December, Saint Xavier University (SXU) students, staff and faculty celebrated the holiday season by hosting various activities and events to spread cheer around campus.

Festivities kicked off with SXU's First Friday Tea, a tradition made even more special this December as the community was treated to a Christmas singalong with SXU's Chamber Singers ensemble.

SXU's Music Department held their annual Christmas Spectacular the following Sunday, where performances from the SXU Chorale, University band and Jazz Ensemble gave the crowd an afternoon full of holiday magic.

SXU's Drama Club, Service Club, American Red Cross Club, and the Pre-Medical Society held a joint presentation of an original Winnie-the-Pooh production, "How the Bear Saved Christmas." Keeping in mind our core value of service, the SXU community gained admission to the play by donating used children's toys, clothes, blankets and canned food for the families of hospitalized children through Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The SXU mission continued to be honored throughout the season by the American Red Cross Club and Service Club, who hosted the Red Cross Holidays for Heroes program in the SXU Diner. This program enables Americans to "Give Something That Means Something" over the holiday season. The community thanked members of the military, veterans and their families through homemade holiday cards.

The Student Activities Boards (SAB) got into full spirit, hosting a Whoville party inspired by "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Snacks, games and holiday fun were provided, and several members dressed in Whoville attire!

The residence halls also rang in some holiday cheer to wind down from the busy semester. Rubloff Hall hosted a holiday movie night, where popcorn and drinks were provided to residents as they took a break from studying for finals.

Staff Council invited the SXU community to get into the festive spirit while decorating the Christmas tree outside of the Butler Reception Room. With homemade ornaments from departments and organizations across SXU plus cookies and drinks, a cozy Christmas atmosphere was surely in the air.

To top off the holiday season, Staff Council hosted a holiday party in the Butler Reception Room. The event featured live music from SXU's jazz ensemble, Fish 'n Chips, along with food, desserts, hot cocoa and more. Community members got to participate in a raffle where they won festive holiday gift baskets and the room was decked out in sparkling lights, garland, and plenty of Christmas decorations.

With a communal joyous spirit and a dedication to advancing the common good, SXU's core values and Mercy mission were truly exemplified by its community this holiday season. Saint Xavier wishes peace and good health to all this Christmas!
