Saint Xavier University’s (SXU) annual day of giving – We Are SXU Day – will be celebrated Wednesday, March 23. Each year, the celebration is held in conjunction with Mission Day, a day that spotlights the University's core values of service, excellence, hospitality and integrity. The 2022 goal is to be able to count 750 donors – every donation counts, no matter the size!

The celebration is made even more special as 2022 marks the 200th birthday of Mother Agatha O'Brien, the first superior of the Sisters of Mercy in Chicago and Saint Xavier's first directress, or president. Mother Agatha O'Brien is the premier example of an SXU "doer," an individual who answered the call to extend the wonder and promise of Mercy far and wide. Her works are responsible for the education of thousands of students across the globe, and you can perpetuate her legacy of supporting students with your donations!

We Are SXU Day is a 24-hour, participation-driven effort. Donors don’t have to wait until March 23 to make their gift, either. You can make a donation now!

Every gift, no matter the size, impacts the University -- your generosity can help to provide life-changing scholarships, create new internship and networking opportunities, organize mission and service trips and design new spaces across campus that enhance student knowledge and success.

"We Are SXU Day honors the Saint Xavier story, including that of our tenacious first Superior Mother Agatha O'Brien. Our community looks forward to celebrating her legacy while answering the same call to meaningful action in support of our incredible students and vital initiatives. I invite our alumni, friends, students, faculty and staff to get involved and have fun!" said President Laurie M. Joyner, Ph.D.

SXU calls its entire community, including alumni and friends, to participate in We Are SXU Day. In addition to donations, we are calling on alumni and friends to take their SXU pride viral by sharing how SXU made an impact using the hashtags #WeAreSXU and #SomosSXU and sharing photos on social media. A social media toolkit can be found on the We Are SXU Day web page, which includes We Are SXU Day graphics. Put on your scarlet and gray and unite with Cougars across the world for this very momentous occasion. Let's come together to show our Cougar pride and show the world what a difference a day makes!
