Saint Xavier University (SXU) mathematics professor Abdul-Majid Wazwaz has been ranked No. 27 in the world for "Best Mathematics Scientist" by Research.com, the leading academic research portal.

"It feels great to receive this ranking. The criteria was based on my research's impact on the mathematics and physics community and covers practical applications using new mathematical methods. I am very happy to know my research and work is highly cited and well-regarded," said Wazwaz.

Wazwaz has always found math fascinating and his love for it only continues to grow. He believes it's important to stay immersed in the field to stay up-to-date with current research. He is part of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and Studies in Applied Mathematics (SIAM). He serves as associate editor for the reputable journal Nonlinear Dynamics as well as other professional journals. Wazwaz has over 700 published articles and his h-index, the metric for evaluating the cumulative impact of an author's scholarly output and performance, is 82.

Wazwaz has been teaching at Saint Xavier for over 30 years and has been happy to implement parts of his research within the classroom and senior seminar projects. He finds working with students to be the highlight of his teaching career. He is grateful to fellow faculty and to the University for supporting his professional development.

Though WazWaz will retire from Saint Xavier this summer, he will continue to conduct research and has many ideas to pursue.
