Date:11/12/2025

Saint Xavier University (SXU) finance professor Monzurul Hoque, Ph.D., has been named
to the Marquis Who's Who list for his expertise in education. The Marquis Who's Who
list recognizes accomplished individuals who have demonstrated notable contributions
in their fields and who are of significant value to society.
Hoque was honored to be recognized by Marquis.
"My accomplishments highlight the enthusiasm and dedication of my students, whose
eagerness inspires my ongoing contributions. I also credit supportive institutions,
vital corporate partnerships and Chicago's dynamic environment for providing unique opportunities that have shaped my professional
journey," said Hoque.
Those recognized for their expertise in education are continuous learners who never
stop developing academically and professionally, and SXU's core value of learning
for life is meaningful to Hoque.
"Lifelong learning means achieving outstanding ambition for my students in and outside
the classroom. My most notable achievement lies in my role as an innovative educator
who forges strategic corporate alliances to connect academia with the broader industry.
Driven by a deep commitment to societal betterment, I continually refine my teaching
methods and creative initiatives, ensuring my influence extends well beyond the classroom,"said
Hoque.
Part of Hoque's lifelong learning involves a keen interest in artificial intelligence
and developing strategies for business applications using artificial intelligence.
"I am a student of fintech, and artificial intelligence grew out of Big Data, the
development of the internet, and the advancement in statistical modeling. I have pursued
specialized certifications to remain at the forefront of emerging trends, including
a certificate in artificial intelligence and implications for business strategy at
the MIT Sloan School of Management," said Hoque, who also obtained certification in
fintech from the University of Oxford.
These credentials have enabled him to integrate cutting-edge topics, such as artificial
intelligence and financial technology, into his teaching, research and applications
to hedge funds. He is now utilizing AI strategies to generate an optimal roadmap for
implementing artificial intelligence in the business classroom at SXU.
Beyond academia, Hoque is committed to civic engagement, serving as a volunteer with
Chicago Care. He also enjoys volunteering and distributing meals within his community
for those in need and strives to live the SXU mission daily.
"SXU's Mercy mission resonates substantially with me. Our students participating in
the Student-Managed Hedge Fund are instructed to uphold human dignity and the common
good while generating profits, and we were recognized by the Financial Times of London
for these efforts and the impact investment strategy they have created. Each semester,
students suggest inclusion of ESG-compliant investments that elevate human dignity
and the common good," said Hoque.
Hoque's efforts have been recognized through several awards, including a nomination
for teaching excellence at SXU in 2022 and the Teaching Excellence Award from the
Academy of Finance in 2019. He was also honored with Saint Xavier's highest institutional
award for excellence in teaching, research and service.
Looking ahead, Hoque aims to advance educational innovation by developing new curricula,
strengthening corporate partnerships, and enhancing societal impact through student
achievement. He plans to integrate micro-credentials and certificates alongside traditional
degrees, with an emphasis on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence within
the financial technology sector. Dedicated to the ethical use of artificial intelligence
and continuous self-improvement, he envisions education as a means to elevate human
dignity and promote the common good.
