Near the end of the spring semester, Saint Xavier University (SXU) held the annual Arab American Achievement Awards, an event that honors the accomplishments of Arab American students and staff who have made significant contributions to SXU and their respective fields of study. Established to highlight the rich heritage, talent, and resilience of the Arab American community, the awards aim to uplift role models, inspire future generations, and foster pride in Arab American identity.

"I am incredibly proud to have attended the Arab American Achievement Awards. The event showcased the talent, dedication, and heart of Arab American SXU students and employees across so many fields. This was a rough year for many of our Arab students and employees as they continue to navigate the trauma of the atrocities occurring in Gaza and other parts of Palestine. The Arab American Achievement Awards allowed them a few hours of respite and the ability to come together and celebrate their successes. It was a night that truly honored our contributions and affirmed the importance of representation and recognition," said Rola Othman, Ed.D., director of Client Services.

Hosted by the Office of Student Life, Office of Family and Community Engagement, and the Arab American Achievement Awards committee (in collaboration with University leaders and student partners), the ceremony serves as both a cultural celebration and a platform for building greater understanding and unity. Award recipients are recognized not only for their educational excellence but also for their commitment to SXU community empowerment and cross-cultural engagement.

"The Arab American Achievement Awards ceremony was a remarkable celebration of heritage and excellence. It was an honor to witness the powerful stories and outstanding achievements of our students and staff who are shaping our communities for the better. I left the event with a renewed sense of pride and inspiration," added Othman.
