The Saint Xavier University (SXU) Public Safety Department proudly hosted its first-ever "Cop on a Rooftop" fundraiser in support of Special Olympics Illinois on Friday, May 16, from 5 a.m. to noon at a Dunkin' Donuts location in Evergreen Park.

The event was a tremendous success, raising both funds and awareness for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. Officers from SXU Public Safety stood atop the Dunkin' Donuts roof and greeted morning commuters, students, and community members with smiles and encouragement to support a cause that empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities through year-round sports training and competition.

SXU Public Safety is grateful for Dunkin' Donuts store manager Fehmida Shaikh and her outstanding team, whose warmth, hospitality and enthusiasm helped make the event memorable. Their welcoming spirit and teamwork were vital to the success of the fundraiser.

"This was an incredible experience, and we're grateful to everyone who came out to support Special Olympics," said SXU Police Chief Dan Murphy. "Fehmida and her staff went above and beyond — we couldn't have asked for better community partners. We hope this is just the beginning of many more events like this to come."

The event was part of the statewide Cop on a Rooftop initiative, which unites law enforcement and local communities in supporting Special Olympics athletes. Funds raised help provide opportunities for athletes to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy through the power of sports.
