During Martin Luther King Jr. Week, Saint Xavier University (SXU) will celebrate the life, contributions and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King with a variety of events.

The National Day of Racial Healing, a call-to-action for all, is Tuesday, January 20. Visit the Butler Reception Room throughout the day for a period of reflection on what racial healing looks like personally and environmentally. There will be a labyrinth, music and prompts for deeper introspection.

From 6:30 to 8 p.m., the community is invited to come to McGuire Hall for special performances by Blackbird Academy of Irish Dance and Dabke Team in a celebration of culture.

On Wednesday, January 21, the community can visit the Wiseman Student Lounge at noon for a Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration to listen to and reflect upon excerpts from Dr. King's speeches and writings.

On Thursday, January 22, a community dinner with civil discourse and community-building will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Butler Reception Room. The dinner will provide a unique opportunity to connect with fellow University members and engage in meaningful conversations around how the community can use its unique strengths and passions to meet the times people are living in individually and in community.

The SXU community looks forward to celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Grounded in the values of the founding Sisters of Mercy and in reflecting on Dr. King's important work, each day, SXU is committed to service, compassion and leading with love.
