Scholarship Details

Eligibility for the Vernon O. Crawley Scholarship is exclusive to full-time Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC) students who are completing their associate degree and transferring to Saint Xavier University. The Crawley Scholarship is a $1,000 award that is in addition to the transfer merit scholarship or Phi Theta Kappa scholarship students receive when enrolling full-time at Saint Xavier University (SXU). The Vernon O. Crawley Scholarship is renewable each year as a full-time undergraduate student at SXU. Candidates must have earned a 3.0 cumulative GPA at MVCC and be receiving their associate degree in May.

Submission Process

Moraine Valley Community College student applicants must complete an application including a personal statement (a maximum of 2 pages in length) indicating their educational and career goals and how their Moraine Valley and Saint Xavier degrees will help them accomplish those goals. Applicants must also obtain a reference from one faculty member from Moraine Valley Community College prior to the application deadline. All information must be submitted before March 15.

Applications for this scholarship are complete once the University has received:

  1. The applicant's personal statement and completed student application form.
  2. One faculty reference.
  3. A completed application for admission at Saint Xavier University

Please note: A limited number of Vernon O. Crawley Scholarships are awarded each year, and applicants are selected based on a combination of factors including academic profile, scholarship personal statement, and faculty recommendations.
