As the world adapts to the impact brought on by COVID-19, Saint Xavier University must do the same in support of the health and safety of all its members within the SXU community. With concern for the entire SXU community, commencement ceremonies scheduled for May will be postponed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Please understand this was not an easy decision to make. We are actively exploring possible alternatives to honor our incredible graduates. You will hear more from us in the days and weeks to come. In the meantime, please view this video message from President Laurie M. Joyner, Ph.D. below:
Commencement represents the culmination of your hard work and dedication and provides a much-deserved celebration for both you and your proud parents/guardians, family, friends, faculty and staff who supported you on every step of your academic journey.
We recognize that the number of participants and their guests will far exceed the guidance issued by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to slow the spread of the virus. We are called to do all that we can to ensure the health of our students, their families and friends, and the Saint Xavier community.
We know you too are committed to protecting yourselves and the well-being of others, particularly the most vulnerable among us. We are proud of your resilience and your success. We look forward to celebrating and honoring your achievements in the future.
