Join us for an Evening of Community, Celebration and Fun!

Saint Xavier University invites students, families, alumni, staff, neighbors, and friends to celebrate an extraordinary milestone as we commemorate 180 years of Mercy education, service, and commitment to Chicago's South Side.

Founded in 1846 by the Sisters of Mercy, Saint Xavier University is Chicago's oldest Catholic university and the first Mercy institution of higher learning in the United States. For nearly two centuries, the University has prepared generations of students to lead purposeful lives while serving wisely and compassionately in support of human dignity and the common good.

The SXU 180th Anniversary community fest is more than a birthday celebration -- it's an opportunity to bring our campus and community together, celebrate our shared history, and look forward to the future.

A Beloved Tradition Returns

For many years, Saint Xavier University hosted annual community picnics that welcomed neighbors, alumni, families, and friends to campus. These gatherings became a cherished tradition and a way for the University to strengthen its connection with the surrounding community. As we celebrate our 180th anniversary, we're excited to bring this tradition back with the goal of making it an annual celebration once again.
