Besides the full Master of Science in Exercise Science (MSES) degree, the following three Graduate Certificates are also available. These certificates are ideal for students who may not require or be able to commit to a full master’s degree. Students can choose from one of three certificates: 1) applied sport science, 2) sport coaching, or 3) strength and conditioning.
Applied Sport Science Requirements (12 credit hours)
- EXSCG 425: Research Methods and Applied Statistics (Fall I)
- EXSCG 505: Advanced Concepts in Applied Physiology (Fall II)
- EXSCG 600: Thesis/Scholarly Project (Spring I)
- EXSCG 601: Thesis/Scholarly Project (Spring II)
Sport Coaching Requirements (9 credit hours)
- EXSCG 540: Advanced Coaching Practices (Summer I)
- EXSCG 400: Leadership and Ethics (Summer II)
Then one of the following courses:
- EXSCG 580: Motor Development and Skill Acquisition (Summer II)
OR - EXSCG 405: Psychology of Exercise and Sport Performance (Fall I)
Strength and Conditioning Requirements (9 credit hours)
- EXSCG 515: Advanced Strength and Conditioning (Spring I)
- EXSCG 550: Advanced Recovery and Regeneration (Spring II)
- EXSCG 590: Application of Strength and Conditioning Principles (Summer I)
