Biography

Joseph Floramo, Ph.D., is a biological sciences adjunct faculty member at Saint Xavier University. He completed his doctorate in cell and molecular biology at the Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids in the lab of Tao Yang, Ph.D., where the focus of his research was on developing a tracking tool for the post-translational modification of polySUMOylation. He also completed a master's degree and bachelor's degree in biological sciences at Purdue University Northwest - Hammond Campus. He completed a master’s thesis under Radmila Sarac-Stanic, Ph.D., characterizing the exosomes in the context of cystic fibrosis. During this time, he taught a variety of labs, including cell biology, genetics, microbiology, and animal physiology and assisted with cell and tissue culture and recombinant DNA techniques. With a wide range of research interests, he likes to encourage and assist undergraduate researchers to gain experience and knowledge and develop new skills that will help them in all aspects of life.
