Vincent Davis

Title:Interim Divisional Director
Office:Warde Academic Center
Department:Liberal Arts & Humanities Div

Vincent Alexander Davis, Ph.D., is a Saint Xavier alumnus, class of 2010. Before teaching, Davis was a longtime employee of Ricoh USA, Inc. for 19 years. He worked in various roles for Ricoh, including site manager, where he was responsible for providing contracted support services and office solutions to various clients in the Chicagoland area.

During his time at Ricoh, Davis returned to school, receiving an associate degree in mass communication from Moraine Valley Community College in 2007, a bachelor's in communication from SXU in 2010, and a master's in communication and training from Governors State University in 2013. In 2018, Davis started his doctorate, earning a Ph.D. in communication studies from Regent University in summer 2023. The title of his dissertation is "The Family Tree: An Examination of Genealogical Influence in Identity Formation and Interpersonal Communication." His research sought to create an intersectionality between genealogy and communication studies by arguing that there is a genealogical aspect to how individuals see themselves and communicate interpersonally.

Davis started teaching at SXU as an adjunct in spring 2015 and earned full-time faculty status in fall 2017. During his time at SXU, he has taught students who have placed in or won the bi-annual COMM 101 Speech Competition and is regularly part of campus-wide committees in service to the University. Students and colleagues alike have been very complimentary of his personality, classroom presence, and commitment to students. Davis has also won several teaching awards during his time at SXU.

In his free time, Davis is a mid-level genealogist, where he not only researches his family tree but volunteers to help others. His genealogical research was the driving force behind his dissertation.

Davis has been married to his wife Debra since 1994. They have two adult children, Ariana (SXU Class of 2020) and Donovan, and one grandson.
