Biography
Johnna Gerona earned her bachelor of science in communicative disorders with a minor in family, consumer and nutrition sciences in May 2019 from Northern Illinois University (NIU). Gerona continued her education at NIU, earning her master's degree in higher education and student affairs in June 2021.
Throughout her undergraduate and graduate years, Gerona was heavily involved in the NIU community as an active member of the Philippine Student Association, Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. and the United Greek Council Executive Board. As a graduate student, she worked as a research assistant at the Asian American Resource Center and the School of Art and Design Advising Office. She also worked at Kishwaukee College's Student Involvement Office as a graduate student intern.
Gerona's commitment to helping college students through their academic and professional journeys stems from her personal experiences and graduate program. She aims to help students build skills that will help them successfully transition through college and life beyond graduation.
In Gerona's spare time, she enjoys cooking, watching shows, attending concerts and playing video games. She loves spending time with friends, family and loved ones. Gerona is also passionate about staying involved in her community and actively seeks opportunities to do so.
