Biography

Mr. J. Chris Perez learned at an early age from his parents that one key to a happy life is to enjoy the learning process and never stop learning. Perez took those words of wisdom to heart and became an advocate for lifelong learning, encouraging everyone to learn something new every day.

Perez has a passion for learning, having earned four degrees (bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with an electrical and computer engineering major, master's degree in electrical engineering, MBA, and JD) from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is no surprise he has chosen a career in education to assist others on their journey of discovery and growth.

After working as a freelance engineering consultant and an IT professional for the Government of Guam, Perez returned to Marquette University and started his career in higher education as an IT professional, engineering instructor, and academic affairs administrator. He also served as an electrical engineering technology instructor and dean of the School of Manufacturing, Engineering, and Information Technology at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. After some time teaching STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) to the K-8 students at Saint Michael School in Orland Park, Perez returned to higher education to serve the community at Saint Xavier University as the director of MBA program.

Perez’s research interests include resiliency and retention as well as the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence tools to support student success. When not working, Perez enjoys spending time with family and cultivating the love of learning  to his daughters.
