Biography

Claire Starcevich is a lecturer in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Division. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in communication sciences and disorders from Saint Louis University and a clinical doctorate in speech-language pathology from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Prior to joining the faculty at Saint Xavier University, she practiced as a pediatric speech-language pathologist in school, early intervention and outpatient settings. The majority of her clinical practice occurred in a public school district in northwest Indiana, where she provided speech, language and communication services to students ages three through 22 across a variety of developmental and educational profiles with a focus in early childhood programming, assistive technology and augmentative and alternative communication.

At SXU, she teaches undergraduate and graduate coursework in communication sciences and disorders and supervises graduate student clinicians [in the Ludden Speech and Language Clinic], having joined the division as an adjunct clinical supervisor in 2025. Additionally, she provides part-time teletherapy to pediatric and school-aged clients and mentors clinicians completing the clinical fellowship year. She has primary interests in counseling and parent education, culturally responsive practice, and language and phonological development across the early childhood, preschool and school-age years.
