Biography

Vanessa Garcia became an adjunct clinical instructor at Saint Xavier University in 2019, transitioning to a full-time assistant professor position in 2021. Garcia has had the pleasure of teaching on-site clinicals, in-person labs and virtual simulations since 2020.

Garcia also works as a certified oncology nurse at the University of Chicago Medical Center, having started as a nurse's aide in 2013. She has a bachelor's and master's degree in nursing from Chamberlain University, completing the latter with a specialty track in nursing education.

Garcia is a strong leader, acting as a positive role model and preceptor for nursing students, staff, and patients and their family members. She has developed a strong interest in nursing education and a passion for teaching, staying up to date on new evidence-based research and living as a lifelong learner.
