Alumni Association Awards

In recognition of the achievements of its graduates and faculty, the Saint Xavier University Alumni Association has established the Distinguished Alumni Award, the Sister Dorothy Marie Peshcon Award, the Rita A. Ford Faith in the Future Award and the Faculty Recognition Award.

The award winners will be honored this year at the Alumni Awards Ceremony on Sunday, October 5, 2008  as part of our Homecoming and Family week celebration.

Nominations are currently underway for SXU alumni and faculty who emulate the criteria of the awards described below.  To nominate a candidate please submit a written nomination letter (250 words or less) that includes the name, address and phone number of the nominee, the name of the award being considered and an explanation of how the alumnus/a exhibits the criteria of that particular award.

The Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award, is a tribute to an alumnus/a whose personal and professional life mirrors the heritage of the Sisters of Mercy -- to search for truth, to think critically, to communicate effectively, and to serve wisely and compassionately in support of human dignity and the common good.  Recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award include:

Sister Dorothy Marie Peschon Award

Internationally recognized for her outstanding contributions to education, Sister Dorothy Marie Peschon ’19, traveled the world, embracing cultures and languages. Honoring one of the first graduates of Saint Francis Xavier College for Women and a foreign language instructor at Saint Xavier for over 60 years, the Sister Dorothy Marie Peschon award is presented to an alumnus/a who serves as an exemplary volunteer and supporter of the University’s endeavors.  Recipients of this award embody the values of the Sisters of Mercy in pursuit of opening new doors to Saint Xavier students.  Recipients of the Sister Dorothy Marie Peschon Award include:

Rita A. Ford Faith in the Future Award

Saint Xavier University Faculty Recognition Award

In 2003 The Saint Xavier University Faculty Recognition Award was established to recognize the accomplishments of a faculty member who has served the University community for at least 5 years and has achieved personal, professional and social accomplishments that reflect the ideals of Saint Xavier University.
