Spirit of Mercy Day

In the Spirit of Mercy all are welcome to join us as we prepare peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to benefit those served by PORT Ministries which for thirty years has served community members affected by poverty, hunger and despair in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. In addition to the donation of your time, donations of supplies such as: peanut butter, jelly, snacks, sweets and juice pouches, or monetary donations to offset the cost of additional supplies are always appreciated. Carlos Andrés Gómez

Carlos Andrés Gómez is an award-winning poet, actor, speaker, and writer from New York City. A Pushcart Prize nominee, he is the author of the coming-of-age memoir Man Up: Reimagining Modern Manhood, released by Penguin Random House. Named 2016 Best Diversity Artist by Campus Activities Magazine and Artist of the Year at the 2009 Promoting Outstanding Writers Awards. A former social worker and public school teacher, Carlos has lectured and performed at more than 500 colleges and universities, facilitated countless workshops, and delivered numerous keynotes and commencement addresses.

Immediately following the Cougar 5K Run/Walk, join us for an amazing afternoon of football as our SXU Cougars face Taylor University (Ind.).

Take this opportunity to gather your family and join us for a celebration of your heritage as an alumna/us of SXU. Children's activities will include inflatables, arts and crafts, games and more!

Registration

Advance online registration is $10 per person. Admission on the day of the event is $15 per person. Children under 12 accompanied by a paid adult are free. Admission includes food, soft drinks and two drink tickets for beer or wine. Additional drink tickets will be available for purchase.
