Institutional Review Board
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Saint Xavier University is established in compliance with Title 45, Part 46 of the Code of Federal Regulations (Rev. June 18, 1991). The role of the IRB is to review all proposals for research involving human subjects prior to the commencement of such research and to monitor the progress of projects which have received IRB approval. The purpose of IRB review is not to place obstacles in the path of legitimate research, but rather to ensure that the rights of human research subjects are fully protected.
Attention to All IRB Submitters
As of January 3, 2018, any IRB submissions will be made in the IRB Submission Canvas course.
All research proposals will have to submit an email to email@example.com with an intent to submit request. This email intent to submit request triggers enrollment in the IRB Submission Canvas course to enable IRB proposal submission.
NOTE: If the research is being conducted by an undergraduate student, the faculty advisor should send the original "intent to submit" email; IRB will correspond with faculty throughout the process in these situations. If the research is being conducted by a graduate student, that student can initiate contact and s/he will be the contact person throughout the process.
