Welcome, Trinity Christian College Students
Trinity Christian College announces closure at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 academic year.
Students can complete their program of study at Saint Xavier University
Saint Xavier University will offer automatic admission to Trinity Christian College students and will match out-of-pocket net tuition and fee cost!
Trinity students who are enrolled in a qualifying Teach-Out Program and are in good academic standing will receive additional benefits under the Teach-Out Agreement, including:
- Saint Xavier University (SXU) will accept all credit hours earned and those that were accepted at Trinity Christian College (TCC) toward an equivalent program at SXU.
- SXU will identify a pathway for Teach-Out students to complete the equivalent degree at SXU in the same time frame it would have taken to complete the Trinity degree.
- SXU will match out-of-pocket net tuition and fee costs for Teach-Out students for the duration of the program.
We welcome Trinity students interested in a major or program that is not eligible for the Teach-Out to apply as a traditional transfer student.

Saint Xavier will match students' net cost of tuition and fees at Trinity for the duration of their program completion at SXU. TCC students are awarded a transfer scholarship at the point of admission to SXU. Then, once we receive a copy of students' TCC billing statement, our Financial Aid Office will add additional SXU institutional financial aid, if needed, in order to match TCC's net cost of tuition and fees.

Teach-Out Student Admission Process
- Apply online using our transfer application. The application is free, requires no essay, and can be completed quickly and easily from a mobile device! (Students interested in one of the Special Education or Physical Education potential pathways noted below can select one of our existing SXU majors on the application, or choose 'undecided, and answer "Yes" to the question regarding interest in Special Ed or Physical Ed.)
- Students should request a "Records Release" from Trinity Christian College by completing the records release form on their website, https://www.trnty.edu/academic-records/. The Records Release will include students' Trinity Christian transcript and other important information, such as students' billing statements.
- If students attended other colleges, transcripts should be requested from those institutions as well.
- Students should submit their 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid or log in to their 2026-27 FAFSA at www.studentaid.gov and add Saint Xavier University's school code, 001768, so we receive their results.
April 1 Priority Commitment Deadline for Trinity Christian Upper-Level Education and Nursing Students
Upper-level Trinity Christian education and nursing students (those who will be juniors and seniors in fall 2026) who are interested in enrolling at Saint Xavier University this summer or fall were encouraged to fully commit to SXU by Wednesday, April 1, to ensure sufficient classroom observation, student teaching, and nursing clinical placements were secured for the fall semester.
Education classroom observation, student teaching, and nursing clinical placements are limited and depend on the availability and discretion of partner schools and health care facilities, which are outside the University's direct control. The process of securing placements occurs well in advance of each semester. We cannot guarantee fall classroom observation, student teaching, and clinical placements for upper-level Trinity education and nursing students who commit to SXU after Wednesday, April 1.
We encouraged students to complete the application process by March 15.
- Apply for admission.
- Submit a Release Records request to Trinity, so we receive your transcript and other important documents.
- Request transcripts from any other colleges attended.
To meet the April 1 priority commitment deadline, upper-level education and nursing students must have been admitted and committed to SXU by submitting a $100 tuition deposit by April 1. Now that this deadline has past, we'll still accept applications and assist upper-level education and nursing students as best as we're able, however, degree completion timelines will likely be extended.
Special Education and Physical Education Students
Saint Xavier University does not offer degree programs in Special Education or Physical Education; however, both colleges have been working diligently to identify potential pathways for Trinity Christian College students who may seek to enroll at SXU. Because this work is ongoing, the information outlined below is subject to change.
In all potential pathway scenarios below, it is important to note that Special Education and Physical Education are not included in the TCC/SXU Teach-Out Agreement, as SXU does not currently offer these programs. Therefore, the degree-completion timelines for these students at SXU might differ from those at TCC. Despite these differences, SXU is committed to providing TCC students with options. As part of these options, SXU will match TCC's out-of-pocket net tuition and fee cost for Special Education and Physical Education students who pursue one of the potential pathways outlined below.
To Apply: To pursue one of these potential pathways, TCC students should complete the application process following the steps above. On the application, students can select an existing SXU major, or choose 'undecided', and select "yes" to the question regarding interest in Special Education or Physical Education.
Potential Pathways
Potential Pathway #1: Pair an existing SXU education program with an LBS1 endorsement.
- SXU offers a Special Education (LBS1) endorsement that can be paired with one of our existing education programs: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Level Education, Secondary Education, and PK-12 Education.
- The LBS1 endorsement consists of four courses (one of which is already required within SXU education programs) and a special education content exam, which need to be completed in addition to the coursework needed to finish the program.
- This potential pathway requires students to change majors from Special Education to one of SXU's existing education majors; therefore, the degree-completion timeline at SXU might differ from TCC.
- SXU will honor students' out-of-pocket net tuition and fee costs for those who pursue this pathway.
Potential Pathway #2: (Available only for TCC Special Education students scheduled to student teach in fall 2026.) Complete an SXU Liberal Studies program and be entitled the LBS1 as an initial endorsement from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
- Eligible students can transfer to SXU's Liberal Studies major, provided the student has met the Liberal Studies program requirements or will meet requirements by the end of fall 2026.
- Students will declare a concentration in Education (24 credit hours), which is expected to be largely or fully satisfied through already completed TCC coursework. Students will also likely meet requirements for a Special Education minor at SXU, which will be added to their academic record.
- Qualifying students will proceed with student teaching in fall 2026.
- Successful students will earn the LBS1, entitled by ISBE after an evaluation and graduation.
Potential Pathway #1: SXU is developing a proposal to add Physical Education to its list of PK-12 education programs. Review and approval by the Illinois State Board of Education are required before the program can be offered. ISBE has rescheduled its review to their August meeting. Approval is not guaranteed. PE students scheduled to student teach in fall 2026 can also consider PE Potential Pathway #2.
- If ISBE approval is granted, TCC Physical Education students may enroll in Physical Education at SXU.
- Physical Education is not included in the TCC/SXU Teach-Out agreement; therefore, students' degree completion timelines at SXU might differ from their Trinity timeline.
- SXU will honor students out-of-pocket net tuition and fee costs for those who pursue this pathway.
Potential Pathway #2: (Available only for TCC Physical Education students scheduled to student teach in fall 2026.) Complete an SXU Liberal Studies program and be entitled the PK-12 Professional Educator License (PEL) in Physical Education as an initial endorsement from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
Students will also likely meet requirements for a Physical Education minor at SXU, which will be added to their academic record.
- Qualifying students will proceed with student teaching in fall 2026.
- Successful students will earn the PK-12 Professional Educator License (PEL) in Physical Education, entitled by ISBE after an evaluation and graduation.
