SXU Offers New Programs in Exercise Science and Sports Administration

Date:11/20/2018

Education is a constantly evolving landscape. At Saint Xavier University (SXU), that horizon now includes two new majors -- Exercise Science and Sports and Fitness Administration. Operating as a part of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, both of these fields of study are designed to give SXU students new opportunities and the best chance to enter the workforce in careers they love, whether that be with competitive athletics, personal wellness or collegiate coaching.

While studying toward a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science degree, students will undertake courses designed to take them through the theories of proper exercise practice and how to apply those into practical situations. Through this program, students will gain an impressive array of evidence-based experiences while learning new and creative ways to apply their undergraduate research into their future careers. Graduates will have the skill sets needed for careers as personal trainers, exercise coaches and strength and conditioning coaches at the collegiate level.

Students pursing a Bachelor of Arts in Sports and Fitness Administration will learn the strategic business approach of sports management, studying administrative aspects involved in the field as well as analyzing the finer details of human anatomy. Graduates will be prepared for engaging positions in athletic departments and administrative roles with the lineup of practical knowledge needed to operate their own businesses. Operating as an interdisciplinary effort, this program includes contributions from SXU Business, Biology, Psychology and Physical Education departments, rounding out a truly dynamic curriculum designed to prepare individuals for careers in athletic programs, rehabilitation facilities, health clubs, sports recreation services and much more.
