Personal Training

Overview

The personal training services will be conducted by student workers hired by the divisional director of health sciences and the field experience coordinator (FEC). Services are provided on a one-on-one basis within the working hours of the Center for Health and Wellness (CHW). These hours are to be determined by the availability of the student worker and the FEC. The client will work with the student worker/trainer on times available for training. Each client will fill out a consent form, health PAR-Q and health history questionnaire. A deposit of $25, non-refundable, will be collected before the first meeting and that money will go toward their training.

Cost

  • $30 per hour for faculty, staff, or student
  • $35 per hour for non-employee or student

Typical Session

The first session will be an overview of the client's needs based on their assessment (Par-Q and HHQ). Along with the initial assessment, the student worker personal trainer will conduct a more physical assessment with testing from our wellness evaluation. The assessment will be conducted according to the client's needs and wants. Each assessment is not the same and is based on individual needs.

Nutritional Counseling

Overview

The nutritional counseling services will be conducted by student workers hired by the divisional director of health sciences and the field experience coordinator (FEC). Services are provided on a one-on-one basis within the working hours of the Center for Health and Wellness (CHW). These services will also be overseen by Gregg Mallett, Ph.D., who has a master's degree in nutritional sciences.

Along with the initial assessment, the nutritional counselor will assess current eating habits, modifications that may be needed, and any other lifestyle changes that need to occur. Each client will have a different approach, but they will all be based on their initial Par-Q and HHQ.

Wellness Evaluation

Overview

The testing and evaluation services will be conducted by student workers hired by the divisional director of health sciences and the field experience coordinator (FEC). A deposit of $25, non-refundable, will be collected prior to the first meeting. That money will be applied to their evaluation fee of $75 for a one-time evaluation or toward their personal training or nutritional counseling. This service is a comprehensive evaluation of the health and wellness of the person. This evaluation will allow the student worker and FEC to properly set up a program for the client. Those seeking the evaluation will get a comprehensive readout from their data to help them in their fitness or wellness journey.

Cost

  • $75 for anyone only getting an evaluation done, with a $25 non-refundable deposit
  • $25 non-refundable deposit for anyone who is getting personal training or nutritional counseling
