Peer Academic Tutoring
The Center for Learning and Student Support offers free peer academic tutoring for a variety of courses at SXU. Our tutors are subject-specific and tutoring sessions are tailored to each individual learner.
Writing Studio
The Writing Studio aims to improve the quality of writing across all disciplines at SXU by offering individualized, student-centered appointments focused on developing each writer's abilities to compose cohesive messages, and we assist with any paper, any class and any stage in the writing process
Academic Support Coaching
The Center for Learning and Student Support academic support coaches work with students in one-on-one or small group sessions on developing academic skills necessary for success in college, including organization, note-taking, time management and content skill needs.
Brainfuse Online Tutoring
For subject and/or writing assistance, send your paper and receive personalized feedback within 24 hours or meet virtually with a trained instructor at a set time.
Rebound Program
The Rebound Program is a university-wide program built to stabilize first-year students who have fallen below a 2.0 cumulative grade point average within their first semester.
Student Success Academy
The Student Success Academy supports incoming first-year students toward academic development. This head start, summer bridge program is in place as a confidence builder, helping incoming students develop and hone academic skills.
The Center for Learning and Student Support, created under the CASA Title V grant, helps students actualize their academic potential. We provide academic services and socio-emotional support, with a focus on incoming first-year students and their scholastic growth through graduation.
Our Academic Support Coaches work with students in a one-on-one or small group environment to provide additional academic assistance using strategies necessary to reach their educational goals. Academic Support Coaches evaluate students' academic progress in counsel with faculty to create individualized academic plans in support of their studies.

The Center for Learning and Student Support mission has an eye toward identifying and responding to the strengths and needs of our University's dynamic community. Our skilled academic support staff, tutors, and writing consultants aim to empower, promote and maximize the potential of each student. As part of a Hispanic serving institution (HSI), the Center for Learning and Student Support supports the historically underserved, first-generation and multilingual students. We welcome students at all stages of their academic journey, whether starting, continuing, or returning to college, strengthening their subject, writing, and critical thinking skills in a safe, welcoming, and collaborative environment.
