First-Year Requirements

14 credit hours/5 courses

  • English: ENGL 120 (starting fall 2025: ENGL 101 and ENGL 102, C or higher)
  • Communication: COMM 101 (C or higher)
  • Math: MATH 135 (Stats is required for ALL business majors)
  • Philosophy: PHIL 140
  • Transitions: TS 100 (offered fall only)

Major Requirements

76 credit hours/26 courses

  • Business Core Requirements: 49 credit hours/16 courses
  • Accounting Major Requirements: 27 credit hours/9 courses (7 courses and 2 accounting electives)

Financial Aid Information

Generally, Pell grants can be used up to 12 full-time semesters. Illinois MAP grants can cover up to 135 credit hours and merit scholarships tend to cover 10 full-time semesters for non-transfer students and eight full-time semesters for transfer students. CLEP Exam

The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP®) offers a variety of 90-minute exams that enable interested individuals to earn a college credit in a wide range of subject areas. This internet-based testing (IBT) program is open to all students who wish to advance to higher-level courses, test out of a core or major requirement, and/or receive elective credit.
