SOAR Program

What is the SOAR Program?

The SOAR (Spring Opportunity for Academic Recovery) program -- formerly known as Rebound -- supports first-year students whose cumulative GPA falls below a 2.0 after their first semester, helping them strengthen academic skills, reconnect with campus resources, and build a foundation for future success.

Benefits

  • Return to good academic standing.
  • Continue receiving financial aid.
  • Receive student support services.
  • Remain on track for graduation.

Students in the program will participate in a zero credit, one-hour course for fourteen weeks.

For more information, please contact the Center for Learning and Student Support, at 773-298-5148 or studentsupportFREESXU.

Goals of the SOAR Program

  1. Identify and acknowledge barriers to your success.
  2. Improve organization, time management, and general study skills.
  3. Review subject materials within first-year core classes.
  4. Sharpen math, critical thinking, STEM and writing instruction.
