Pre-Health and Research Certificates
Take the next step toWard your career in health and science
The Certificates of Graduate Program Preparation (CGPP) build off foundational coursework taken by most Natural Sciences students to guide students of any major toward meeting important prerequisites (both academic and non-academic) for acceptance into health professions and other graduate-level programs. Students might be working toward a bachelor's degree or already have a bachelor's degree and seek to complete prerequisites for a competitive application.

Why Earn a Pre-Health and Research Certificate?
The Certificates of Graduate Program Preparation are designed for a single purpose: ensure students submit the best graduate application they can. By completing these certificates, students can feel confident they have completed most (if not all) of the coursework required for acceptance into the programs of their choice. Furthermore, the certificates have minimum science GPA requirements more rigorous than those for students seeking a bachelor's degree. Finally, the pre-health certificates require students to gain real-world experience (at least 300 hours) related to the fields they seek to enter. Taken all together, students completing the certificates will have the coursework, GPA and experience required for a competitive graduate application.
About the Program
The Certificates of Graduate Program Preparation allows students to have a guided experience to meeting important academic and non-academic prerequisites for various health professions and research-related graduate programs. The requirements for each certificate are specifically selected because they are either required or suggested to obtain admission into a relevant program. Completion of the certificate requirements will increase the chances of students completing a competitive application.
The BIOL 361, 362, and 363 requirements are a unique portion of the Pre-Health certificates. They require students to seek out volunteer and paid experiences related to their fields of interest. The result is 300-350 hours (minimum) of experience, which are necessary for a competitive application for most health professions programs.
- Students will obtain knowledge in relevant disciplines necessary to perform well on admission exams (e.g., MCAT, DAT, etc.) and for consideration into health professions programs.
- Students will obtain knowledge and experiences for consideration into graduate health and research programs.
- Students will have competitive GPAs for consideration into graduate health and research programs.
