Cognitive-Communication

Therapy may address attention, memory, organization, reasoning, executive functioning, and problem-solving following brain injury, stroke, neurological disease, or other changes in cognition.

Speech and Motor Speech

Adults with dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and other speech disorders may work on speech clarity, motor planning, articulation, rate, loudness, and strategies for successful everyday communication.

Voice and Parkinson's Disease

We provide services for adults experiencing changes in voice, including specialized programming for individuals with Parkinson's disease through SPEAK OUT!®.

Swallowing

Evaluation and therapy are available for adults experiencing swallowing difficulties or dysphagia associated with neurological conditions, stroke, cancer, surgery, and other medical conditions. Services focus on supporting safe, efficient, and meaningful eating and drinking.

Fluency

Individualized services support adults who stutter or experience other fluency differences, with an emphasis on effective communication, self-advocacy, confidence, and participation.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) services support adults who use communication methods beyond speech, including communication boards, tablets, speech-generating devices, writing, gestures, and other communication technologies.

Hearing and Aural Rehabilitation

Communication-focused services may address listening strategies, environmental, self-advocacy, and communication partner training for adults experiencing hearing changes.

More Ways to Learn, Grow and Connect

For SXU Students

Learn here.
Make an impact here.

A one-of-a-kind experience for future SLPs.

Ludden offers graduate students the opportunity to work with a diverse adult population, develop advanced clinical skills, and make a meaningful impact in the community. Students gain hands-on experience in evaluation, intervention, counseling, and interprofessional collaboration.

SXU graduate students complete approximately 200 of the 400 clinical hours required for graduation at the Ludden Clinic, gaining hands-on experience in assessment and therapy across the lifespan and scope of SLP practice.

From aphasia groups and AAC to Parkinson's, swallowing, and cognitive-communication therapy, students build real-world clinical skills under close faculty supervision.

And the experience starts early: undergraduate students also have opportunities to engage in the clinic and gain exposure to clinical practice.

These experiences prepare students not simply to provide therapy, but to become thoughtful, adaptable, and compassionate speech-language pathologists.
