Tutoring

Peer Academic Tutoring

The Center for Learning and Student Support offers free peer academic tutoring for a variety of courses at SXU. Tutoring begins the second week of each semester with about 40-50 courses available. Course-specific tutoring is by appointment only and appointments must be made, at minimum, the day prior to the requested time. Our tutors work with students of all ability ranges.

Our Tutors

SXU tutors are subject specific, meaning they have taken the same course and have excelled in that subject. Tutors are also trained in assisting students with academic skills like note-taking, organization, and test taking. All SXU tutors participate in ongoing training.

Preparation

Each tutoring session is tailored to each individual learner. To make the most of your tutoring session, we suggest you prepare a list of questions and topics that you would like to cover during your tutoring session. It may be useful to your session to bring class notes, past exams/quizzes, or your course textbook.
