Message From the Director

Welcome to the Health Sciences Division!

Welcome to Saint Xavier University's School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SONHS)!

We are honored that you have chosen Saint Xavier University as your academic home and selected Exercise Science as your degree program. You are joining a learning community committed to academic excellence, professional preparation, and service to others. Our faculty and staff look forward to supporting you as you develop the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for success in the exercise science and health professions.

The Health Sciences Division proudly embodies Saint Xavier University's Mercy Mission through both its curriculum and its service to the community. Throughout your coursework, you will learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and serve others with compassion -- core principles that guide ethical and professional practice in health and human performance fields. Our eight core values are intentionally woven into every course within the major and are essential to helping you build a meaningful, fulfilling, and successful career.

The Health Sciences Division offers three undergraduate majors: Exercise Science, Sports Management, and Physical Education. In addition, we offer minors in Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning, Sport Management, and Physical Education. The Division is proud to offer an NSCA Education Recognition Program (ERP) -- approved curriculum that provides strong preparation for students pursuing professional certifications such as the CSCS®. We also offer a graduate program in Strength and Conditioning, designed to prepare advanced practitioners for leadership roles in performance, sport, and applied human sciences.

Graduates of our programs pursue careers in a wide range of allied health and performance settings, including strength and conditioning, personal training, fitness management, athletic performance, and wellness leadership. Our academic pathways also prepare students for advanced and terminal degrees in fields such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, strength and conditioning, human performance, nutrition, and sport science.

We are genuinely proud of the students who choose Saint Xavier University and the Exercise Science department to pursue their education and professional goals. We look forward to supporting you as you strive to become an outstanding practitioner who serves others with knowledge, integrity, and compassion.

We are excited to welcome you to campus and into our classrooms. Welcome to the Health Sciences Division and to Saint Xavier University!
