All students are required to submit a Petition for Graduation via Self-Service during the semester before they intend to graduate. If you plan to graduate in August or December, the graduation petition form will be available via Self-Service on mySXU from January 1 through March 15. Petitions must be submitted on or before March 15.

Students filing after the deadline must do so in the Office of Records and Registration (A-203) and will be charged a $100 late fee. Students who do not satisfy their degree requirements in time for their petitioned/anticipated graduation term cannot participate in that term's ceremony and must renew the petition process when the graduation requirements are met.

All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours in order to graduate. To graduate with academic honors, you must have completed at least 50 graded credit hours (hours taken Pass/Fail, CLEP, Challenge or AP do not count) at Saint Xavier University. Any courses numbered 099 or below do not apply toward graduation. Honors will be determined and recorded on diplomas and transcripts after the receipt of grades.

All financial obligations to the University, including payments to Student Financial Services, Bookstore, Library, Residence Halls, parking, etc., must be met before a student is eligible to receive a diploma or transcripts. Also, students who receive financial aid must complete exit interviews with the Office of Financial Aid before they can participate in the Commencement ceremony. Contact the Office of Records and Registration at 773-298-3501 if you have questions.
